How to Awaken Kundalini Energy

This is a short guide on how to awaken one’s own Kundalini energy using the combined practices of meditation, contemplation, yoga and relaxation and was based on my own experiences of what achieved a spontaneous activation state.

A Kundalini Awakening isn’t something to consider casually and it’s not an easy process to go through, whilst it aims to improve your quality of being and lifetime potential it comes with many risks to your mental, spiritual and physical health and it will continue to affect you for the rest of your life and you will be permanently changed. It brings you into line with the spiritual ascension process and the later stages of your awakening will be about refining your ego character, personality and sharing your spiritual gifts whether part of your work or done selflessly.

If you do manage to awaken your Kundalini energy using this method it will be necessary to prepare by making a number of lifestyle changes which may include things like giving up television and watching Hollywood movies, playing certain violent computer games, the risk of becoming estranged or alienated from some or all of your friends and family, giving up certain foods for a period of time and making long-term changes to your diet that you enjoy, changing your inner attitude towards yourself and others and defining a personal value system. If you’re not prepared to make at least some if not all of these changes then Kundalini awakening is probably not for you and it will result in an extremely unpleasant experience.

There will be times where you experience intense love greater than anything you have ever yet experienced from a romantic or family relationship, reaching states of deep inner peace and bliss not accessible by most individuals in society. There will also be hard times of depression, darkness, fatigue and mild to extreme discomfort. Many people who awaken Kundalini may become diagnosed by the medical community as Bipolar, Schizophrenic and Psychosis. These are the main labels our health system use to describe these unexplained spiritual phenomena. It is not a good idea to discuss your Kundalini experiences with Psychiatrists but instead focuses on medical symptomology such as sleeplessness, fatigue, adrenal burn out etc. There are a number of spiritually trained transpersonal psychologists and psychotherapists who may be able to help you integrate and explain your experiences working privately.

The Indian deities of Shakti and Shiva are responsible for the Kundalini process so cultivating the qualities of reverence, grace, gratitude for what you receive and forgiveness towards those who have harmed you. Jesus Christ also taught humanity the process to awaken Kundalini and there is the potential for being visited by him during your awakening as he has the power to forgive and wash away your karma energetically.

Consider these things carefully before you begin doing the exercises and don’t feel the need to rush into this as it isn’t for everybody at this time.

Everybody has other people in spirit responsible for helping and guiding you through your lifetime intuitively, however, if you’ve already got a life-plan mapped out then this lifetime may not be right for you or it’s possible an awakening may help you get back on track if you become spiritually lost during your life.

Awakening Kundalini

Step 1

Begin a meditation practice and focus your field of attention and minds eyes towards the midbrain area where the pineal gland is located, this is in order to decalcify and activate this calcified gland. In the beginning, you may need to start by distancing yourself from many of your uncontrolled thoughts and go inwards and simply let them flow over, however eventually, you will train your physical brain to channel thoughts differently and your mind will become a still and quiet place allowing you to raise your consciousness to enable you to interact with the spirit realms.

I performed this meditation in darkness during the evenings for several weeks where I would sit in solitude and undisturbed by other friends or family members for a number of hours and mixing this with a contemplative practice of questioning who is the deeper self within me and what did I really want from my life and why.

Step 2

Perform exercises to strengthen, stretch and flex the body, muscles and skeleton such as yoga, dancing or doing an appropriate martial art. Some of these can be done in the comfort of your own home and others I recommend you find a local class to attend in order to discipline yourself.

Step 3

Perform deep relaxation exercises in order to open the Root Chakra located in the pelvic floor in order to allow the body to ground spiritual energy safely back into the earth. Opening this for the first time can feel like a sexual surge of energy, but this is due to its location and the sensitive area of the body it is located near to the genitals.

Step 4

Perform body scanning exercises in order to relax the muscles in the upper thighs, pelvis and lower back. The word to describe this is Surrender, which is done in order to activate and release the energy stored in the tailbone.

Step 5

Visualise a golden snake wrapped around the tailbone, see this slowly uncoiling in your mind’s eye. Feel it unravelling and melting into a pool of liquid golden energy like warm honey at the base of the spine. Next, visualise a hand creating threads from this pool and pulling them up the spine with the thread being held between the thumb and forefinger. This will help to direct your intention to raise the energy up the spine. If the energy begins to burn or feel too strong you should immediately stop performing this exercise.


Both male and female Souls will have a Dark Night of the Soul that may last many months or years which is designed to help you quickly clear many lifetimes of past karma in a short space of time. This process is delivered through daily vivid dreams which come at night that include symbolism and sound. Negative energy will also be pulled back into the body at times as your soul learns, which will need cleansing and releasing from the body. Men and women will experience different karmic lessons and you will only ever process lessons from lifetimes that correspond with your current gender.
